Support

We read every message.

Email support@cncartist.app. Tell us your device, your machine and controller, and what happened. A screenshot or the job file helps a lot.

Sending feedback from the app

Choose Help, then Send Feedback. cncArtist builds a ZIP with a short text report, plus the open job if you choose to attach it, so you can email or save it. You can open the ZIP first to see exactly what's in it.

Common questions

Which machines does cncArtist work with?

cncArtist has posts for Centroid Acorn (CNC12), GRBL, Shapeoko with Carbide Motion, X-Carve with Easel, Onefinity (Buildbotics), Mach3, Mach4, UCCNC, LinuxCNC, Masso G3, Axiom (RichAuto) and ShopBot, plus a GRBL laser post. If your controller reads standard G-code, GRBL or LinuxCNC is usually a good starting point. Always run the simulator and an air cut first on a new setup.

Which files can I import?

SVG, DXF, PDF, Adobe Illustrator and EPS vectors; photos and other images, which cncArtist traces into vectors; and STL or OBJ 3D models.

Can I open my Aspire or VCarve files?

Not directly. cncArtist can't read Vectric .crv or .crv3d files. In Aspire or VCarve, export your vectors as DXF or SVG, and your 3D models as STL, then import those. Your Vectric tool database (.vtdb) imports directly into cncArtist's bit library. The in-app Switching from Aspire guide shows where each familiar tool lives in cncArtist.

Does cncArtist run on Windows?

No. cncArtist runs on Mac, iPad and iPhone.

How do I send G-code to my machine?

Export the job. You get one ZIP with the checked G-code, the design as SVG and DXF, and a setup sheet. Copy the G-code to your controller the way you normally would, for example by USB stick or your controller's own sender software.

My bit broke halfway through. Do I have to start over?

No. In the Export step, open Restart after a broken bit, pick the point where the cut stopped, and save a restart file. It picks up from there, so you only recut what's left.

Why is the run-time estimate different from my real cut?

Every machine accelerates differently. When you record how long a job really took, cncArtist adjusts its estimates for that machine, so they get closer over time.

Do my projects sync between devices?

Yes, if iCloud Drive is turned on for cncArtist. Your projects are stored in your own iCloud Drive and show up on your other Apple devices.

Is cncArtist safe to use with my machine?

cncArtist checks every line of G-code in the simulator before export, but no software can see your machine. Check your zero, your clamps and your tool before each cut, keep your hands clear, wear eye and ear protection, and stay with the machine while it runs.
